Welcome!!! Welcome!!! Welcome!!
We sure are glad you came to visit us and intend on making you feel welcomed to our site. This website provides advice and tips to consider when you travel with pets.
My name is Destin and with the help of my person and four legged pack (whom my person affectionately calls “the boys”) I will be your guide dog as you romp about this site.
There are many things to consider when you alone are traveling much less when you intend to take your four legged friends along. Some of you have other two and four legged friends or friends without legs at all and there will be more text added as the site grows to include cats, birds and other traveling companions.
Initially we will focus on my fun loving species…..canine.
There are many ways to travel these days and we will discuss air, land (other than by automobile) and sea in future posts. The most common way to travel with pets is by car and from what our person says it is her favorite way to travel with her animals.
There are also many things to consider such as the time of year, destination and length of trip. Yet even with a one day trip it is best to be prepared for any emergencies.
My person told me about the day that Atlanta GA was devastated by a snowstorm that occurred in early 2013 and how many folks and animals were left in their cars without food, water or medicine. Many left their cars and hiked to the nearest 24 hour open stores since even the emergency crews could not respond to all in need.
That incident probably caused many folks to paws and think. Weather and other emergencies do happen so why not adopt the boy scout motto – “be prepared!” ?
Some essentials to have at all times are: food, water, serving bowls, any medicines, a crate, harnesses, leashes, pictures of your pets, ID or micro chip, a first aid kit and Bach Rescue Remedy.
There are other items to pack based on weather conditions, season, location, destination and length of trip. “The Boys” and I intend to share some of our person’s tips on what to bring along with you and loads of other valuable information for traveling with your pets.
Jump over to Gino Gabs where he shares (sharing is something he would rather not do when he has a toy in his mouth that I want) the following:
- Traveling By Car Basics
- Essentials List
- Detailed Information For First Aid Kits
- Other Safety Information Tips and Products
Gino will be gabbing about more in future Gino Gabs posts. Some of the articles will include:
- Anxiety and Motion Sickness Series
- Crates, pet carriers and booster seats
- Seat belts and other travel restraint products
- Okay you are at your destination. Now what?
- Preparation for a trip across the USA
- Information when you intend to cross out of the US into Canada and Mexico

Be sure to check out the Destin Digs Section in the near future. My person and I will be reviewing products and sharing our thoughts with you.
Also we will be meeting with some local animal shelters and “beg” for your help in getting the word out on some canines and felines ready to romp about their own home.
Be sure to greet us “Boys” on the About Us Rompsters page.
So leap on in and please romp about! If you leave too soon you will miss the opportunity for us to play ball with you or cuddle up on your lap so you can pet us. Please paws long enough for us to regulate your heart rate and decrease your stress hormone levels.
We Dig You,
The Rompsters
